Contributing to the Mayoral exhibitions of the years 1937, 1938 and 1940 as well as the\u00a0<\/span>Quadriennale<\/span>\u00a0of 1939 (Renato Breda,\u00a0<\/span>1890-1940.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Artisti<\/span><\/i>\u00a0e\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Mostre<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Repertorio<\/span><\/i>\u00a0di\u00a0<\/span><\/i>pittori<\/span><\/i>\u00a0e\u00a0<\/span><\/i>incisori<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>italiani<\/span><\/i>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span><\/i>esposizioni<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>nazionali<\/span><\/i>, Rome 2001, p. 60;\u00a0<\/span>Marco\u00a0<\/span>Severini<\/span>,\u202f<\/span>Bellini, Laura<\/span><\/i>, in\u202f<\/span>Dizionario<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>biografico<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>delle<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>donne<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>marchigiane<\/span><\/i>, 1815-2018<\/span><\/i>, ed. by L.\u00a0<\/span>Pupilli<\/span>, M.\u00a0<\/span>Severini<\/span>, Ancona 2018, pp. 32 ss.<\/span>), Bellini\u2019s work was described as follows by Lorenza\u00a0<\/span>Trucchi<\/span>, writing for example in\u00a0<\/span>Momento<\/span><\/i>\u00a0Sera\u00a0<\/span><\/i>(24 April 1966): \u201cthere is an inevitable reference to the Roman School of which this painter is, in a certain sense, one of the last heirs:\u00a0<\/span>Mafai<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Scipione<\/span>\u00a0and the first dazzling expressionist\u00a0<\/span>Gentilini<\/span>, are somewhat ideal masters of this painting heightened by romantic flashes and chromatic frenzy well adapted to render the climate of an eternally baroque Rome, lifted by the reddish light of her fiery sunsets.\u201d Then in 1998, recalling her link with the painter Orfeo\u00a0<\/span>Tamburi<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Trucchi<\/span>\u00a0again underlined her use of expression in the Roman School, \u201cof which her baroque-style and magmatic painting was a successful if extreme example.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Very likely earlier, by quite some time, than these quotations, the painting presented here is chronologically in harmony with the sources mentioned, around the mid-thirties, for its\u00a0<\/span>materic<\/span>\u00a0and earthy aspect, recalling\u00a0<\/span>Mafai<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Scipione<\/span>\u00a0but also\u00a0<\/span>Carena<\/span>, however with a specific visual vagueness in the brushstrokes that captures the real, underlining the sentimental languor of a modern figure, shown in the classical iconography of melancholy by the hand supporting the head.<\/span><\/p>\n
