The 2021\u00a0edition\u00a0of London Art Week,\u00a0which\u00a0will\u00a0take place online with the works\u00a0visible\u00a0from life in the Gallery\u00a0in Rome,\u00a0will\u00a0allow\u00a0a\u00a0series\u00a0of new\u00a0acquisitions\u00a0to be\u00a0presented\u00a0to the public.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u00a0is\u00a0now\u00a0a\u00a0tradition\u00a0for\u00a0our\u00a0Gallery to\u00a0present\u00a0significant\u00a0portraits\u00a0and self-portraits\u00a0of\u00a0Italian\u00a0artists\u00a0of the\u00a0twentieth\u00a0century\u00a0for\u00a0this\u00a0event. In\u00a0addition\u00a0to Galileo\u00a0Chini’s\u00a0<\/span>Self-portrait<\/span><\/i>\u00a0as\u00a0a\u00a0painter\u00a0and\u00a0ceramicist\u00a0of 1933, the\u00a0rediscovery\u00a0of\u00a0extraordinary\u00a0images,\u00a0such\u00a0as\u00a0the\u00a0self-portraits\u00a0by\u00a0Emanuele Rambaldi\u00a0and\u00a0Edmondo Poletti, and by\u00a0Tripodi in\u00a0sculpture,\u00a0allows\u00a0us\u00a0to\u00a0deepen\u00a0the story of\u00a0these\u00a0perhaps\u00a0peripheral\u00a0and\u00a0little-known\u00a0masters,\u00a0but\u00a0capable\u00a0of\u00a0leaving\u00a0a\u00a0mark\u00a0in the art of the time. The\u00a0same\u00a0can be\u00a0said\u00a0of Carlo Romagnoli,\u00a0engaged\u00a0in the\u00a0portrait\u00a0of an\u00a0elegant\u00a0man.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Different\u00a0is\u00a0the case of the\u00a0<\/span>Portrait\u00a0of Gabriele D’Annunzio<\/span><\/i>\u00a0by Paolo\u00a0Troubetzkoy,\u00a0executed\u00a0in Paris in 1911, a work\u00a0already\u00a0famous\u00a0in\u00a0his\u00a0time and\u00a0today\u00a0testified\u00a0by\u00a0this\u00a0unique,\u00a0precious\u00a0bronze\u00a0version.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Added\u00a0to\u00a0this\u00a0selection\u00a0is\u00a0a large cartoon,\u00a0preparatory\u00a0for a figure painting,\u00a0<\/span>Romanzo (Novel)<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0where\u00a0the founder of “Valori Plastici” and\u00a0protagonist\u00a0of the\u00a0Return to\u00a0Order Mario Broglio\u00a0represented\u00a0bathers,\u00a0absorbed\u00a0in the\u00a0suspended\u00a0atmosphere\u00a0of\u00a0magical\u00a0realism.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If\u00a0these\u00a0works are\u00a0related\u00a0in\u00a0chronology\u00a0and figurative\u00a0currents,\u00a0definitely\u00a0isolated, in\u00a0every\u00a0sense,\u00a0it\u00a0appears\u00a0a\u00a0masterpiece\u00a0of\u00a0architecture,\u00a0which\u00a0is\u00a0due to one of the\u00a0greatest\u00a0modern\u00a0masters, Zaha Hadid,\u00a0recently\u00a0passed\u00a0away.\u00a0This\u00a0is\u00a0the study model,\u00a0almost\u00a0a\u00a0three-dimensional\u00a0preparatory\u00a0drawing,\u00a0created\u00a0for the\u00a0final\u00a0phase\u00a0of the 1999 MAXXI\u00a0competition\u00a0and\u00a0donated\u00a0by the\u00a0author\u00a0to the\u00a0Superintendent\u00a0of the National Gallery of\u00a0Modern\u00a0Art\u00a0at\u00a0the time, Sandra Pinto,\u00a0who\u00a0had\u00a0initiated\u00a0and\u00a0chaired\u00a0the\u00a0competition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
